This next-level soapmaking class is designed for students who have either taken our Cold Process Soap Making 101 Class or who have experience making soap from scratch on their own. If you have never made soap from scratch before (cold process or hot process), you must first take our Cold Process Soap Making 101 class which demonstrates soapmaking and teaches all the basics (including lye safety) needed for all beginning soap makers.

Have you noticed how popular cupcakes are? There are cupcake bakeries, cupcake reality shows and even cupcake competitions! Well, cold process soapmakers are certainly not immune to the sweet lure of frosting-topped goodness.
That’s right! Cupcakes have invaded the soap world!
The latest trend in novelty soap are soaps that look (and sometimes, smell!) like cupcakes, cakes and pies. In this class, Ruth will show you the easily available tools and simple techniques you need to produce the cutest, sweetest, most delicious-looking soaps ever!
Why let bakers have all the fun?
Watch as Ruth shows you how easy it is to pipe cold process soap, just like real frosting. She will give you tips and ideas for making your own soap cupcake creations. Then, have a try at making your own soap cupcake creations that you will take home with you to let cure and enjoy.
By the end of class, you’ll leave with a handout including a soap recipe and complete instructions for making cupcake soaps. Plus the two cupcakes soaps that you made in class, each in their own gift boxes.
This is an age 18+ class since making soap from scratch involves working with lye (aka sodium hydroxide).
What You Need to Bring: Please wear or bring a long-sleeved shirt and closed-toe shoes. You’ll also need rubber gloves and safety goggles. There will be several pairs of goggles and gloves to share, but if you prefer your own please bring them to class.
This is an intermediate level class. See Prerequisite Requirements below.
Please Note: A materials fee of $25 in cash is due
and will be collected on the day of the class.

Ruth Esteves, Co-Owner of The Nova Studio, started making handmade soap in 2006 as another in a long line of hobbies. Since then, she has gone from whipping up quick melt-and-pour soap gifts for her friends to designing and selling her own cold process soaps online through Sirona Springs. Trained as a laboratory research scientist, Ruth finds that soapmaking is the perfect blending of chemistry and art. Ruth is also a member of the Handcrafted Soap & Cosmetics Guild (HSCG) and holds the HSCG Advanced Soapmaker certification. Learn from Ruth at the Studio or at Home.
