In MARCH of 2008, a local TV news station contacted me for a show called "Your Green Life" and shortly thereafter, Lesley Nagy stopped by the studio to learn the in's & out's of Making Eco-Friendly Candles using Soywax & Beeswax. It's a brief segment, just over 1 minute:

"Lori Nova of The Nova Studio wins top award BEST IN SHOW at the 2006 AND 2007
Handcrafted Soapmaker's Guild Annual Conferences in Portland, Oregon and St. Louis, Missouri. The soaper's showcase is one of the most amazing things about the annual conference. All attendees have the opportunity to display their soaps to be judged by
their peers. The displays are always impressive - as no two soap makers create and
package their soaps exactly the same. The variety, creativity and quality of all the soaps presented at the Showcase is always outstanding."

In 2006, Lori Nova was interviewed by Emily Charles and Mary Salome for a radio program on BEES because of the different bee products she uses in her handmade bath & body products (like beeswax in lip balm, honey in facials, etc.). The 2-hour program aired on KPFA 94.1 FM's The Radio Chronicles on consecutive Sundays, November 5th & 12th, 2006. Lori's interview is contained in the second half of the program which is archived on the KPFA website link for 11/12/06 below. This entertaining and educational program is a wonderful glimpse into the world of urban beekeeping in the Bay Area.
Grab a cup of honey-sweetened tea and relax as each program is one hour in length.

In JULY of 2006, Lori Nova was interviewed by Donna Maria Coles Johnson of the IBN (Indie Beauty Network, formerly the Handmade Beauty Network). Donna Maria writes... "Of course the IBN is filled with entrepreneurial stars, but only one of them actually shares her name with a type of heavenly body. Join me to learn how you can hitch your wagon to this rising star!"

"After getting a masters degree in Speech Communications, Lori Nova wanted to get back in touch with her hobbies, and opened The Nova Studio in Point Richmond, California, where she offers classes in creating homemade bodycare products. Through experimentation and research, Lori has grown to appreciate the benefits of using natural ingredients. Today, she uses her studio to teach her craft, providing space for other artists and craftspeople to teach as well."
