Learn
everything you need to know about
making your own natural aromatherapy candles!
Everyone loves the glow of candlelight. Learn to make your own candles, just like those you find in stores, but better because you will be using natural waxes (no petroleum-based paraffin) and pure essential oils. Soy wax is a newer product and
is a wonderful alternative to paraffin. You'll work
with the two main types: hard soy wax (used for votive, pillar
or freestanding candles) and soft soy wax (used for container
candles). Beeswax is another natural wax with a lovely honey aroma, and we'll use beeswax sheets to make rolled taper candles.
Both soy candles & beeswax candles burn longer & cleaner than
common paraffin candles.
Using
these 2 natural waxes, we'll experiment as
we make 3 popular types of candles:
Plain & Chunk Style Votives
Soy Wax
Container Candles
Rolled Beeswax Candles
The class
will cover everything you need to know about making candles: basic
safety considerations, necessary equipment and materials, different
types of wick, how to color your candles, how to scent
and mold them, as well as ideas for how to package them.
We'll
discuss scenting candles with natural, pure essential oils for their aromatherapy
benefit and to keep our candles natural. Each student will custom scent and color
(optional) their own candles. Whether you are making candles for yourself,
for gifts, or to sell, this is the class you've been looking for!
It's hands-on and packed with information.
You'll
take home thorough handouts, enough information to make natural wax candles
on your own as well as a pair of beeswax rolled taper candles,
a 6 oz. aromatherapy soy container candle, and 2 aromatherapy scented soy
wax votives. Just to be on the safe side, please don't wear your
favorite outfit (in case wax gets on them). |
